It’s not every day that you stumble upon a set of vintage treasures with such an intriguing backstory. While cleaning out an old storage shed recently, I came across two unique and colorful bottles that had been sitting in the dark for several years, almost forgotten. The bottles, shaped like drummers with vibrant yellow hats, were left behind by a former tenant who rented a property from us but disappeared without a word after falling behind on rent. These mysterious figures stayed tucked away in a Florida shed, their story waiting to be uncovered.
After some research, I discovered that these bottles are Angostura OLD OAK RUM Limbo Drummer decanters, likely produced in the mid-20th century. They were part of a limited edition collection designed to capture attention with their striking figural shapes. The craftsmanship is apparent in the painted details, and it’s no wonder they’ve become collectible items today. Their value ranges from $25 to $50, depending on their condition, which is fairly typical for items that have seen the years but retain their charm.
The Limbo Drummer bottles are a perfect representation of the kinds of stories we aim to uncover here at Dodson’s Curio & Find. Each item holds a piece of history, a bit of curiosity, and the potential to connect us to moments or memories long gone. Whether it’s a decorative piece left behind or a long-lost treasure rediscovered, these unique items remind us that everything has a story waiting to be told.
Stay tuned for more curious finds as we continue our journey of unearthing the unusual and the remarkable. Who knows what forgotten treasures might still be out there, just waiting for someone to give them a second look?
